Simulation games for switching your brain off

Not every game needs to test you. Sometimes you just want to plant crops and watch the seasons turn. Simulation games are the quiet corner of mobile gaming, and offline ones are the quietest of all.

Tiny Farmstead is my current favourite for this — light management, no timers, and a save-and-close rhythm that suits short evening sessions. It never demands anything from you.

The trap with sims is the ones that lock progress behind waiting. If a game tells you to come back in three hours, it's designed around impatience, not enjoyment. The offline ones I like just let you play.

If you're new to the genre, resist the urge to expand too fast. The fun is in the slow build. Overreach early and you'll drown in chores you set for yourself.
