FISHIN' FRENZY
FISHIN' FRENZY is one of those games I picked up expecting to delete within a day and ended up keeping for weeks. The loop is simple: you pick a spot, cast your line, wait for the tug, and reel in whatever bites. What makes it click is the timing — the reel has a little tension meter, and yanking too hard snaps the line while going too soft lets the fish wriggle free.
Controls are a single thumb affair. Tap to cast, hold and release to manage the reel. It's the kind of thing you can play one-handed on a bus without looking like you're wrestling your phone. The art is bright and cartoonish, the water animation is genuinely soothing, and the little sound effect when you land a big one is stupidly satisfying.
The whole thing runs offline with no fuss. There's a gentle progression where new fishing spots unlock as you catch more variety, and I liked that it never nagged me to hurry. It's a wind-down game, and it knows exactly what it is.
What we liked
- One-thumb controls that feel great
- Calming visuals and sound
- Zero connection required to play
